In the Kamiura area of Saiki City, you can find a
beautiful view of the sea with the Meoto-iwa or
wedded rocks. The male and female rocks are
connected by a Shimenawa or braided rice straw
rope used for ritual purposes in Shinto religion.
The Shimenawa used here has a length of 65
meters, diameter 75 centimeters, and it weighs
2 tons. I’m not sure whether my data is correct,
but I have read an article stating that this
Shimenawa is the longest one in Japan.
I’m enjoying the nice breeze!
